So i got this idea that I would blog everyday about my workout progress, eating habits, general self esteem, and whatever other crazy shenanigans I come across. So here we go I guess.
So today was a pretty awesome day. It was a GORGEOUS 56 degrees here in good ole Normal, Illinois. Plus I only had one class at noon, so yay for sleeping in! Not to mention that I finally got my new sparkly phone case in the mail. My mood couldn’t have been higher :)

I went with my friend while she got her tattoo on her foot added to. After our adventure to Uptown we decided to go to Watty (waterson dining center for all you non ISU folk).
This was going to be my first true test. Trying to find something to eat that wasn’t absolutely horrifyingly bad for you, but tasted good at the same time. I went straight for the deli section because i knew my best bet was making a sandwich. I chose flatbread which I haven’t ever really eaten except one time at subway (it wasnt a good experience) with turkey. I’m sure i probably killed the healthiness by adding mayo and cheese, but hey it was my first day I’m cutting myself some slack. After I added some veggies and grilled it in the panini maker i was set on finding a yummy side that wasn’t too terrible.
I went to the salad bar thinking about getting some salad but you never know with the salad at Watty and I wasn’t feeling to up to testing the waters. While i was over there I noticed that they had my favorite pasta salad, which they never have over at Watty. I was so excited so I got some to go with my sandwich, again probs wasn’t THE healthiest thing since it was mayo based, but it’s better than pizza or fries.
Later in the day I went to the gym with Hannah. I worked out on this interesting elliptical that had more of an up and down feel to it instead of a typical long striding elliptical. Holy crap let’s just say that that machine is crazy intense. But so amazing. I “ran” 2.5 miles in half an hour and burned 318 calories. I was pretty proud of myself, even if my feet did start to go numb. (don’t worry that heart rate isn’t accurate i only touched the sensor like once or twice when i was trying to go faster)

After working my legs hard core on that machine for 30 minutes I wanted to find something less intense i could burn at least another 100 calories on the 30 minutes i had left to workout. Naturally I went on the recumbent bike. I chilled on there for 20 minutes at a level 6. I managed to burn 108 calories and go 4 miles, which brought my totals up to around 7 miles and 426 calories. I was feeling pretty good.

Then it was off to dinner at Southside. I got a salad, with a little bit of ranch dressing, a tiny bowl of my favorite pasta salad ( you gotta get that stuff while they have it!) and a small bowl of chicken noodle soup.
Then to top the night off I walked to Uptown again, this time with my friend Brett to get some frozen yogurt at Chill Out. I only got a small portion since it is self serve, which is awesome. Then Brett and I had some pretty good conversation, and he walked me home .
I’m really proud of myself today. I thought a lot about why I want to do this, and how I’m gonna keep it up. I thought about how I’m not gonna obsess over the details. I’m just gonna make good choices and the results will come in time. While I was running the song Me Myself and Time came on. There are a lot of great lyrics in that song that inspired me today.
“I just entered this brand new world
And I’m so openhearted
I know I’ve got a long way to go but I
I’m just getting started”
“Sometimes it gets lonely, but I know that it’s only a matter of my perception”
“And baby there is nothing like this moment
To just be real and let the truth be spoken
Whatever’s broke I can make it unbroken
Turn the lead in my hand into something golden
Just try more love, if I just try more love then I’ll find
Myself in time.”
So here’s to tomorrow being a new day and a new challenge. I’m ready to face it head on. And I know that I’ll find myself and my way in time.
